David on Padel Parranda, Life Between Roles — and Why a Good Lifestyle Refuses to Fit in a Box

There are people who define themselves through one thing. David is not one of them. Model, DJ, photographer, full-time employee — and in between, part of Padel Parranda, one of the most exciting lifestyle event concepts in Germany. On paper, that sounds like self-overload. In conversation, it sounds like the only logical way. Padel Parranda is not just an event. It's a format that brings sport and music together without pitting one against the other — and hits exactly the nerve that a generation is looking for: a generation that no longer wants to choose between court and dancefloor. David knows why it works. He lives it. We spoke with him — about the feeling behind the format, about collaborations that have to be more than just a logo, and about what lifestyle actually means when you stop selling it.

MODEL, DJ, PHOTOGRAPHER, AND NOW PART OF PADEL PARRANDA — THAT SOUNDS LIKE A LOT OF IDENTITIES AT ONCE. BUT SOMEHOW IT ALL FITS TOGETHER. HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOURSELF IF YOU ONLY HAD ONE SINGLE SENTENCE?
They really are many identities. Meanwhile, I'm even still working full-time as an employee. If I had to describe myself in one sentence, I'd say: I'm a very open-minded person with many different interests.

LIFESTYLE IS OFTEN A PRODUCT TODAY THAT YOU SELL. WHAT DOES THE WORD MEAN TO YOU PERSONALLY — AND WHAT DOES A LIFE THAT TRULY FEELS GOOD INCLUDE FOR YOU?
That's a very good question. For me, lifestyle isn't just something that's sold, but above all a feeling. For me, a truly good life means not limiting yourself and not defining yourself through just one single thing. Sure, sport can be part of a lifestyle, but when we talk about a way of living, there's more to it. It's about how you approach life, what attitude you carry with you, and which feeling you follow.

MORE THAN ONE THING

WHAT'S YOUR ABSOLUTE FAVORITE MOMENT AT A PADEL PARRANDA EVENT — THAT ONE POINT DURING THE EVENING WHEN YOU THINK: THIS IS EXACTLY WHY WE DO THIS?
I can pinpoint that moment very precisely. We started Padel Parranda back then because we wanted to bring the sport closer to people. At that time, padel wasn't as widespread as it is today. It was important to us to keep the barrier to entry as low as possible. That's why anyone can participate: people who've been playing for a long time, advanced players, sometimes even league players — but also people who have never held a racket before. What gives me the most joy is when people come to our events without knowing exactly what to expect. Maybe they didn't even want to play padel originally and then spontaneously try it out. And suddenly you can see how instantly excited they are. It's especially beautiful when someone comes up to me afterwards and says: "I tried this for the first time at your event today and it was so much fun." You often see those people again later in their stories or on the courts. That brings incredible joy.

PADEL PARRANDA ISN'T A CLASSIC SPORTS EVENT — IT'S A COURT DURING THE DAY, A DANCEFLOOR IN THE EVENING, AND IN BETWEEN, BRANDS LIKE RED BULL, DOUGLAS, AND HUGO BOSS. WHAT MAKES THIS FORMAT SO SPECIAL TO YOU PERSONALLY — AND WHAT DO YOU FEEL WHEN YOU'RE AT ONE OF THESE EVENTS?
What makes the format special to me is that it doesn't limit itself to one single point. I think it hits the nerve of the times. It's not just about parties and not just about sport. It's about connecting both and giving people an experience. With us, everything runs under the motto: everything goes, nothing is mandatory. In the end, we often get the feedback that guests simply had a great day — whether they mainly played padel, were there for the music, or combined both. It's that special vibe of a summer day full of good energy, good people, and good memories.

COLLABS WITH BRANDS LIKE RED BULL, DOUGLAS, OR OACE — HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHICH PARTNERS FIT THE PARRANDA FEELING? AND IS THERE A DREAM COLLAB THAT HASN'T HAPPENED YET?
With Padel Parranda, we move within a triangle of sport, music, and lifestyle. That means we're not tied to one specific industry. We also don't want to be put in a box ourselves, but rather be perceived as a lifestyle brand that connects different worlds. That's why we look for partners who understand exactly that. They need to understand that we don't just do sport or just music, but want to offer our community a holistic experience. It's important to us to work with brands that want more than just placing their logo. They should want to offer the community real added value, think creatively, and explore new paths together. There's actually no specific dream collab. We move in too many different areas for that. Of course there are brands and artists we find interesting and draw inspiration from. But in the end, we hope to become our own dream brand.

PADEL IS CURRENTLY THE HOTTEST SPORT IN EUROPE. BUT HONESTLY — WHAT DO YOU LOVE MORE: THE MATCH ON THE COURT OR THE MOMENT AFTERWARDS WHEN THE MUSIC PLAYS?
We ourselves love playing padel incredibly much, but we get to do it surprisingly rarely. Even at our own events, we've only managed to play maybe twice so far. At the get-togethers and when the music is playing, you feel the energy of the community particularly intensely though. That's incredibly rewarding and a lot of fun. Especially when people come fresh off the court, full of adrenaline and good energy, and take that energy straight to the dancefloor. When they dance together, sing along, and just have fun. That gives us so much back.
