Anna Schürrle on Slow Living, Real Self-Care — and Why Perfection Was Never the Goal
There's a woman who, at first glance, you might take for someone who has everything under control. Entrepreneur. Mother of two children. Public figure. Brand ambassador. The image that emerges from the outside is one of control and clarity. But that's precisely the point that Anna Schürrle herself finds most interesting — and most important: what lies behind this image. She talks about postpartum. About days when nothing works. About the decision not to hide exactly that. And she talks about skincare — not as a routine on a to-do list, but as the expression of an attitude. One that says: what you give your body should be just as conscious as everything else you pay attention to. Her collaboration with TAUTROPFEN, the German natural cosmetics brand, is not a classic brand deal. It's alignment, as Anna herself says. Natural ingredients that actually work. Transparency that isn't just communicated, but lived. And behind it, real people — not just a brand. We spoke with Anna about what slow living truly looks like on a completely normal Tuesday morning — and why the question "What do I need today?" can be more powerful than any routine.
YOU'VE BUILT YOUR WORLD AROUND CONSCIOUS LIVING — CLEAN EATING, MINDFULNESS, SLOW LIVING. HOW DOES SKINCARE FIT INTO THIS PHILOSOPHY — AND AT WHAT POINT DID IT STOP BEING A ROUTINE AND START FEELING LIKE REAL SELF-CARE?
That's a beautiful question. I often say that gratitude isn't something to check off a to-do list, but a way of living. And I see skincare the same way. For me, skincare begins with understanding your own skin and consciously recognizing what it needs. We invest a lot in our wellbeing — whether through nutrition, movement, or rest — and for me, caring for our skin is naturally part of that as well. It's not about perfection, but about balance. In the end, the goal is simple: to feel comfortable in your own skin.
AS A MOTHER OF TWO CHILDREN, AN ENTREPRENEUR, AND A PUBLIC FIGURE, THE EXPECTATION IS: HAVE EVERYTHING UNDER CONTROL. HOW HONEST ARE YOU WILLING TO BE WHEN THAT'S SIMPLY NOT THE CASE ON SOME DAYS?
To be honest, my goal is not to convey perfection. Quite the opposite. I don't believe that the goal in life is to be perfect in every facet — whether in appearance, at work, in family life, or in always having everything under control. I consciously speak about the challenges of everyday life because they connect all of us. As a woman, as a professional, and above all as a mother, I know these moments myself. My wish is for people to feel seen and understood. To know they don't always have to be their best version. I want to share what has helped me over the years, especially in the moments when I didn't feel at my best.
IN YOUR OWN SKIN
TAUTROPFEN STANDS FOR TRANSPARENCY AND NATURAL INGREDIENTS — VALUES YOU CLEARLY SHARE. BUT THERE'S A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A BRAND THAT TALKS ABOUT AUTHENTICITY AND ONE THAT TRULY LIVES IT. WHAT MADE THIS COLLABORATION FEEL RIGHT TO YOU?
Behind every strong brand are real people. And that's exactly what I felt from the very beginning. When I first got to know the products, there was an immediate emotional connection. The ingredients — like sea buckthorn and rose blossoms — reminded me of my roots and memories from my childhood. It felt incredibly pure, natural, and authentic. When I then also got to know the team and the story behind the brand, it became clear to me that it was about much more than skincare. It's about shared values, a shared vision, and the way you meet people. That's why this collaboration never felt like a business decision, but like genuine alignment. I'm proud to be an ambassador because I can truly identify with the brand's philosophy and the people behind it.
THE ANTI-WRINKLE FACE OIL RELIES ON PLANT-BASED ALTERNATIVES LIKE BAKUCHIOL INSTEAD OF SYNTHETIC RETINOL. IS THE "NATURAL" LABEL IMPORTANT TO YOU — OR IS IT ULTIMATELY ONLY ABOUT WHAT GENUINELY WORKS FOR YOUR SKIN?
The older I get, the more important the ingredients behind a product become to me. In the past, my attitude was more: as long as it works. Today, both things matter to me — that a product is effective and that I feel comfortable with the ingredients. That's why I find it especially wonderful to see that natural ingredients can have such a powerful effect. For me, that's the best proof that efficacy and naturality don't have to be contradictions.
YOU'VE SPOKEN OPENLY ABOUT DIFFICULT PHASES — POSTPARTUM, FINDING YOURSELF AGAIN. HOW HAS YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR BODY AND YOUR SKIN CHANGED THROUGH THESE EXPERIENCES?
The first step was understanding that everything I had been searching for was already within me. That wellbeing isn't something that comes from the outside, but something that emerges from within. Over the years, I've learned to listen much more carefully to my body and my intuition. Especially as a woman, I've come to understand that our needs aren't the same every day. What works today doesn't necessarily have to be right tomorrow. In the past, I looked for fixed rules. Today, it's much more about balance and being in harmony with the different phases of life. I no longer ask myself what always works, but: What do I need today?
SLOW LIVING, FULFILLED, CLEAR MIND — THOSE ARE THE WORDS YOU LIVE BY. WHAT DOES THAT ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE ON A COMPLETELY NORMAL TUESDAY MORNING?
A completely normal Tuesday morning begins for me a little earlier than for the rest of the family. I start with my lemon water, a few lymphatic jumps, and dry brushing. Afterwards, I spray my rose water on my face — a small moment of freshness that helps me wake up and come back to myself. Then I ask myself: What do I need today? Sometimes it's 30 minutes of Pilates, sometimes it's journaling to sort through thoughts and emotions or to plan the day consciously. I try to listen to my body and my intuition rather than living by the same routine every day. Then family life begins. We have breakfast together, my husband takes the children to school and kindergarten, and then my work day begins. Before that, I treat myself to my matcha. That's my very personal "practice the pause" moment. A small ritual in which I consciously pause before the day truly picks up speed. Those few minutes remind me that wellbeing often emerges in the small moments.
