Eva Giesswein spent many years living a life defined by speed, airports, and global metropolises—until her body and skin began to ask for different answers. Retreating to the Tyrolean mountains became a turning point: a life in harmony with clear air, reduced beauty, and conscious choices. With ALPINULIN, she now translates this alpine feeling into a skincare line that combines natural wisdom with biotechnological precision. In this conversation, Eva talks about slowness as strength, responsibility as a given, and why true longevity is not about fighting time, but about finding balance.
Eva, you spent many years working in an intense legal career—between the world’s major cities, constant movement, and environmental stress. When did you first sense that your skin and your inner balance needed something completely different from what your life at the time could offer?
It wasn’t a single moment, more a gradual awakening. I was traveling a lot, often tired, rarely truly outdoors. My skin noticed it before I did: it became more sensitive, more reactive, more restless. At the same time, I felt like I was constantly living beyond my limits. At some point, I realized that what I was applying every day—and how I was living—was not in harmony with what my body actually needed: freshness, clarity, and calm.
Your move to the Tyrolean mountains changed everything. What was the moment when you realized: this feeling of clear air, stillness, and purity—this is exactly what I want to translate into skincare?
It was an early winter morning after it had snowed overnight. I stepped outside and everything was silent. The contrast to my old life was so strong—my breathing slowed, and my skin suddenly felt “unburdened.” That’s when I realized: what the mountains do to me shouldn’t only be experienced by those who live here. It should be possible to translate this feeling—not literally, but as an attitude: clear, reduced, unexcited.
WHEN CARE BECOMES
AN ATTITUDE
Eva Giesswein on alpine clarity, inner balance, and the quiet power of ALPINULIN
In developing ALPINULIN, you immersed yourself deeply in alpine herbal knowledge, minerals, and water resources. What surprised you most on this research journey—scientifically and spiritually?
Scientifically, I was surprised by how adaptable alpine plants are. Many of the substances we now value as “active ingredients” exist simply because these plants have to cope with extreme conditions.
Spiritually, the mountains taught me slowness: respecting cycles, using resources consciously, taking no more than necessary. Research and humility belong together.
The heart of your brand beats between nature and high-tech: edelweiss and alpine roses on one side, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and vegan collagen on the other. How do you find the perfect balance between alpine emotion and biotechnological precision?
In the end, it’s less about balance and more about clarity: what truly helps, what the skin actually needs, and what can be left out. Nature gives us wonderful raw materials, but not always in a stable or sufficient form. Biotechnology allows us to refine and make them reliable. I try to use only what makes sense—not what happens to be a trend. It’s about effectiveness and tolerance, not romance or marketing terms.
Sustainability, transparency, and responsibility are firmly embedded in your brand. Was this consistency more of an ethical standard—or a personal promise to yourself?
For me, it’s a personal need. When you live in the mountains, you see very directly what resources mean—and how quickly something can be damaged. That leaves an impression. I want to create products you can use with a clear conscience. Not perfect, but honest: short supply chains, clean formulations, and explaining decisions instead of hiding them.
ALPINULIN is evolving from a skincare brand into a holistic longevity brand. What is your vision behind this transformation—and what do you believe our generation is really seeking today: youth, health, or inner balance?
I understand longevity as the ability to live a long, good life—physically healthy, inwardly calm, and also at peace with how you look. Not younger at any cost, but aligned with yourself. That’s exactly where I want to guide people with simple, achievable rituals.
When you look to the future: what feeling, what moment from the mountains do you want to give people through your products—something that goes far beyond skincare?
That feeling when you’ve walked a few steps, the air is clear, and you take a deep breath—and suddenly realize how much weight you’re letting go of. It’s something very simple: a moment of presence. If our products can give people even a small piece of that, that would already be enough.
